Football in the South September 2, 2006

It’s football season in the South.  Watch the roads on Friday nights and you’ll find nearly every car headed towards a high school football stadium.  It’s the place to be if you’re one of the cool kids.

Our high school had their first game last night and lost. 28-14. It was very sad all around. The poor timekeeper couldn’t keep the time worth a damn.  He let the first quarter clock run out nearly 2 minutes while a player was laying hurt on the field.  What a maroon. I could have done a better job than that.

The princess is marching in the band for the first time this year.  But she didn’t get to march last night.  Thanks to heavy wool uniforms and not enough liquid or protein she dehydrated…. again.  That makes 4 times she’s done this since June. I’m about to get a little worried.  Just before half-time she got all shaky and nauseaus and was quickly stripped out of her uniform and covered with cold water with cold water poured down her throat.  We got her something to eat and sat with her the rest of the game.  It’s gatorade for that gal from now on and I’m going to make sure she has protein with her.  I tell you not much comes from Gator country and the swamp IMO, but I’m very thankful to them for gatorade.

So tonight it’s Alabama vs Hawaii on ESPN PPV at 7pm.  ROLL TIDE ROLL.
